Mahindra XUV 9S First Look Review: Stylish Born Electric Duo to Claim XUV700’s Electric Twin Spoils
Exterior Evolution: Sleek Facade Meets Rugged Utility
The XUV 9S uses the brawny body of the XUV700, but turns the EV dial up to 11. In the front, we may get the typical motoring mumbo jumbo including a blanket grille with the L-shaped LED DRLs and vertical projector headlamps that were paired with a full-width LED bar to give that futurist glare. All whimsy of practicality is all but lost, flushed out by flush handles, aero 19-inch alloys (up to 20-inch on top trims), and roof rails. Side view displaying 2762mm wheelbase that stretches the 4.8m length, 527L frunk + 150L boot (2nd row folded expands 4076L) Rear: Erect tailgate housing linked smoked LED taillamps and black bumper insert – practical for family loads.
Colors: Stealth Black, Ruby Velvet, Everest White, Desert Myst, Midnight Black, Nebula Blue (6 available) One test driver said: “It’s the bolder brother of the XUV700 — EV without sacrificing desi toughness.” 200mm of ground clearance, 23° approach and 27° departure angles – more than enough to tackle the Indian landscape with ease.
To be fair to XEV 9e: Boxier roofline, no coupe scope for 7 seats Tata Safari EV’s boxy character vs XUV 9S’ aero efficiency (Cd 0.28) gives the latter an edge.
